Recipes of delicious snackable baked goodies

Snacks are pure love. When we talk about snacks, all the rich and invincible food comes to our mind. But the topic of introspection is, are they healthy? Are they worthy of such massive consumptions? Well, as a matter of fact, most of our snacking foods are either fried or stuffed with sugar. And even though consuming them time and again doesn’t cause much harm, but eating them regularly can affect your weight and skin. And these are two of the most primary damages in a long list. Baking, on the other hand, is a convenient cooking process and baked goods are indeed better than fried and processed food. The best way to go is to make, instead, bake your own snack. Today we’ve brought together three amazing baked goods that are easy to make and even easier to munch on. Enjoy!

GRISSINI STICKS

More popularly known as breadsticks. These are of dry biscuit-like texture but in the size of a pencil. We have commonly eaten it with soups of various kind. This stick itself is a very fulfilling snack.

Ingredients
  1. Flour- 100 gm
  2. Yeast- 3 gm
  3. Oil- 5 gm
  4. Salt- 2 gm
  5. Water- 40+10 ml
  6. Gluten- 2 gm
  7. Improver- 1 gm
Method
  1. Mix yeast and water in a small bowl and keep aside.
  2. In another bowl, mix all the dry ingredients. Add the yeast-water mix to the flour and knead the dough.
  3. Add oil and keep kneading the dough till it gets the shine.
  4. Keep for fermentation till the dough doubles in size.
  5. Divide the dough into portions. Roll each portion into thin cylindrical shape. Proof.
  6. Place on a greased baking tray. Apply egg wash over the breadsticks. Sprinkle sesame seeds.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 190° Celsius for 10 minutes.

CHEESE STRAWS

These were famous as holiday snacks back in the days, but now it’s a very regularly consumed food. This delicious baked item is so loved because of the added cheese and peppery kick. It’s an ideal snack for parties, movies, and in general. It is part of Diploma Course in Institute of Pastry and Baking Arts, Delhi and we want to provide complete guidelines for you. Ingredients
  1. Puff dough- 250 gm
  2. Egg- 1 piece
  3. Processed cheese- 50 gm
  4. Chilli powder- 1 tbsp
Method
  1. Take puff pastry dough and roll it into a rectangle.
  2. Egg wash and apply the mixture of processed cheese and chilli powder on it.
  3. Cut out thin rectangles and twist each twice from the centre (twist it 360 degrees in the centre).
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degree Celsius for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

PALMIERS

This baked good is known by several various names such as elephant ears, palm leaf biscuit, butterfly biscuit, French heart etc. This flaky and crispy biscuit is initially from France but is loved all over the world. It is an ideal tea time snack, and its unique shape makes it famous amongst the kids.

Ingredients
  1. Puff dough- 250 gm
  2. Castor sugar- 100 gm
  3. Cinnamon powder- 2 tbsp
Method
  1. Roll puff pastry dough into a long strip about 12 inch wide and 1⁄8 inch thick
  2. Trim the sides of the strip, so they are straight. Sprinkle with caster sugar.
  3. Determine the centre of the strip. Then fold each side halfway to the centre. Then fold each, so the two folds meet in the centre. Each half of the strip should be three layers thick. This is like the book fold.
  4. Wrap and chill for an hour.
  5. Bake them in the oven at 450°F for 6 minutes till the top is caramelised and then flip it over and bake again for 3 minutes.
